His remuneration on an hourly basis was a mere CAD 6. With that wage he couldn’t maintain the same living standard which he enjoyed in India. But the meagre pays, and other setbacks couldn’t deter go-getter Biju Mathews from his goals. He upgraded his knowledge in various tech skills. Escalating his learning curve became his passion. Biju went on to do his higher education in Information Technology for several more years. He acquired his 2-year Diploma in Computer Maintenance and then he pursued his Diploma in LAN Network for another 2 years. During this time, he managed to maintain his full-time job along with his full-time studies. During this time, he learned about the value of hard work which later paid off.

In 1996, he married Annie Mathews, a registered nurse. Currently Annie is working in Northern Ontario as a remote community nurse. They have two children.

After finishing his education, he was able to obtain his first IT sector job in Unisys, Canada. From 1998-2001, Biju worked as a LAN Administrator there. Then from 2001-2012 he worked as a Network Architect for Toronto East General Hospital in Toronto. During this twelve-year timeline, Biju enhanced his networking and technology prowess by completing several courses and certifications such as CISCO, Citrix, Firewalls, Microsoft, Storage area Network related fields and much more…

Between 2012-2013, he worked with Jolera IT service provider, learned software business, and started Baaanet IT solutions. From 2013 till date, Baaanet IT solutions continues to do consulting and Mobile Apps Development. They also provided custom software solutions for small, medium and government sector companies in Canada. As an entrepreneur this techie began to establish his success in the business.

Biju has always been a person who loves to serve the community. He has always been active serving the Malayalee Community from his initial days. From 1996 onwards, he was an active member of Toronto Malayalee Samajam (TMS). In 2011 he volunteers in TMS committees and has served in various positions and is currently he is one of the board of trustees.

He also envisioned and commenced Hridayapoorvam TMS charity program during his presidency with the help of other like minded TMS members. This has been a successful initiative which has helped many individuals and groups in their times of dire need. Several charitable causes were being taken up operated & owned by TMS. The organisation has funded the treatment underprivileged children and adults, Provide Educational scholarships in Canada & has assisted many Families back in Kerala including building a new house for the flood victims. Many people have benefited through the program in Canada and Abroad.

From 1992, he has also been an active member of Kairali arts & Sports Club. He was part of the volleyball, soccer, and cricket teams. He enjoys being a sports organiser and stands hand in hand with his fellow Kairali members during tournaments. He has also co-produced a Malayalam movie named Jamunapyari.
